I’m Dreaming Of A White Christmas
The following is a non-entry for the blog point challenge written by Amy. Even though it is not submitted, I have been authorized to share it with you and so I shall, because it makes me sound wonderfully amazing!
Last night I dreamed that I was Kimmy. Therefore, since I had a dream I was Kimmy, I wanted to never wake up again? Why?
She bakes and actually likes it.
She cooks and likes that too.
She CLEANS, and likes that even better!
She smiles a lot and has such a wonderful personality… and superbly ingenious sense of humor.
Because she is all these things, of COURSE, I would want to dream I was Kimmy. For a few minutes, I had the ability to capture my family’s stomachs, I could make people laugh, and I would have not a speck of dirt in my house!
A dream come true!
She’s just so sweet, isn’t she?
Anyway, I sure have been busy in the kitchen the last couple of days. Between yesterday and today I made 6 different kinds of cookies and I still have buckeyes left to make.
Anyone wanna know what I’ve made so far? Well, I’ll tell you anyway. I’ve made the following:
Cookies n’ Cream Fudge
Chocolate Mint fudge
Shortbread Cookies W/mint jelly Centers
Candy Cane Cookies
Peppermint Patties
Peanut Butter Bars
In the middle of all that baking, I managed to brush the powdered sugar off of me long enough to call and complain about the cable again. I was much successful! My friends at the cable company sent out a tech who replaced our box and now everything is finally working as it should.
I have to take the day off from baking tomorrow so that I can go to work. I will most likely be in the kitchen again late tomorrow night making the buckeyes. Too bad I can’t make them at work:-)
Thursday I have to run a few last minute errands and do a couple cookie drop-offs. Once that is done, I should be officially “ready” for Christmas.
Also, if you notice the title of this post, I AM dreaming of a white Christmas. I don’t think I’ll get one though. How depressing to not have snow on Christmas! Right Kim? I know you’ll at least agree with me;-)
Don’t forget all, votes are due in by the end of tomorrow. We have a tight race going and could use all the votes we can get. Thanks!

I have the same dilemma every year. When to make the Christmas cookies? If you make them too early, they aren’t really fresh for Christmas. If you wait too long – you waste precious time being able to eat “Christmas” cookies. Plus, then you end up rushed = cranky = not enjoying the baking.
I think I always end up doing too many that we can’t enjoy them all, so this year I am only making 3 types, well maybe one experimental, so four. Combined with my mom’s cookies, we’ll have plenty. I tend to stick to old fashioned type recipes. I’m doing Oatmeal scotchies. Chocolate w/ peanut butter chip, peanut butter with kisses & I got some andies mint baking chips so I’ll probably make those for Adam – he loves Andies mints. If I just help myself, although I am trying to, I might have to do chocolate chip too.
Anyway. Just to make you hate me. We have about 8 inches of snow and it’s still falling and it’s the beautiful, white, fluffy kind. The White Christmas Kind.
I do wish we had some snow. I’m still holding out hope! Our weather people have been wrong countless times about what Mother Nature has in store for us in the coming days. Let’s hope they’re wrong this time, too. Adrienne, send some of that fluffy snow this way! And, GO SKIING! There. I’m still a bad influence.
Adrienne, I’m so jealous! That’s it, I’m on the next plane to Colorado. Can I spend Christmas with you? I need snow!
By the way, your cookies sound great! My mom tends to stick with the traditional cookies too, which is why I end up making the odd recipes;-)
I’m with ya Kim. The weather people are always wrong. Let’s keep hoping for our white Christmas!
My favorite cookies, I think, are those nut tart ones. I don’t actually know what they’re called. You make them in tiny muffin pans, they have a dough type crust and a nut filling – similar to a mini pecan pie or something? Anyway. My mom always makes them for me. I hate having to share them.
Kim: The powder and you are like too little devils in my ears. You know how usually they show the little angel on one side and the horns on the other? Instead I hear “GO Skiing” in the right ear and “Fatboys & Fresh Powder” in the left.
Making my decision a little less painful is the fact that Adam got a completely unexpected bonus – it wasn’t much – it would help offset the ticket cost. Surely my children would live if I left for them for the day.
