My Mom

As most of you know, my mom is very ill and barring a miracle, her time left on this earth is very short. It’s been harder to deal with than you could possibly imagine. I never knew personally I could feel such constant grief and sorrow. I’ve been through lots of loss in my life, but none of that could prepare me for this.

I’ve decided that while my mom is still on this earth, and while I still somewhat have my wits about me, that I’d like to introduce you all to her and just brag about what an amazing person she is.

My mom is 58 years old and has been married to my dad for 35 years. She has raised myself and my brother and is a devoted grandmother to my niece and nephew. She is a wife, mother, and a sister to a family who cares so much for her.

My mom is truly the most caring, giving, selfless person I know. She has devoted her life to caring for her family. By some, she would not be considered an independent woman, as she has never driven herself or lived on her own or anything of that nature, but she is definitely one of the most capable women I know. When she sets her mind to something, there is no stopping her.

My mom is the best cook I know. She is absolutely amazing. She has kept my dad happily fed for 35 years, which if you know my dad, is amazing in itself. She has taught me so much about cooking and she has passed on to me the great joy that can be found in cooking and serving the people you love.

My mom is also the one who takes care of everyone. If you were sick with the flu, this is the woman you would want by your side. Even after I was married, I can remember several times when I was sick and fevered that she would come down to my house to take care of me.

She is a nurturer, the best worrier about her kids I’ve ever seen and the strongest woman I know.

My mom taught me so much. I remember her reading the bible to me as a child. She taught me right and wrong and instilled in me a sense of integrity that I value to this day.

My mom is very sentimental. Every Mother’s Day I can guarantee to make her cry just by giving her a nice card or presenting her with a special mom-type gift. You know, the world’s best mother mugs, plaques and things like that. She takes such joy in her children. It’s always been so nice to know that their is someone in this world that loves me THAT much. There is nothing like a mother’s love.

My mom never complains about anything. Even now, after all she has been through, she never complains. Instead, she worries about us, her family.

My mom loves her family. She is devoted to us.

My mom has a strong faith in God and it shows in everything she does. There are just no words to convey just how special my mom is. She is truly the kindest soul I know and this world is a better place with her in it.

My mom is a lot of fun too. She can say the funniest things and totally surprise you. She is usually a quiet person, but when she gets going, she can be crazy.

Just a few fun facts about my mom…

My mom loves to have garage sales, play with her grandkids, cook for her family, go shopping with me and go for adventurous rides with my dad. She loves to go for walks, watch Days of Our Lives and exercise. She’s great at crossword puzzles and my puppy dog loves her. She loves Elvis, oldies and praise & worship music. She loves to go on vacations and she really enjoys the computer. She loves Christmas and takes great joy in presenting her family with special gifts.

Everyone who meets my mom adores her. I don’t know how many people have told me what a sweetheart she is. I just smile and say “That’s my mommy.”
