Nablopomo and a Story of Survival
For those unaware, Nablopomo starts this Saturday. By now, I shouldn’t hear anyone saying “what is Nablopomo?” But, just incase…Nablopomo is the official, original blog-all-month challenge. All you have to do is blog every day for the entire month of November. There is no set topic, just blog away! Last year, we got creative and we all started asking eachother in-depth questions about halfway through the month and it kept things interesting.
Anyway, who’s in? All of you? Fabulous!
In other, completely unrelated news…incase you were wondering where we have been the last 40 days and nights, we were trapped in the wilderness and had to survive on locust & honey, with the occasional soybean or bit of corn thrown in.
It all started with a treacherous hayride. It was a dark and stormy night and we were all trapped in a haunted house with a crazy stalker woman. She deprived us of smore-eating time and forced us to ride in the caged hayride. The ride seemed to take hours as she terrified us into submission. Hay flew everywhere. No one was safe. And then, all of a sudden…the tire blew. We all knew immediately that it was a trap! We scurried off as fast as we could and ran through the haunted corn fields, all the while being chased by the crazy stalker woman. It was dark, cold and eerie as we trampled through the uninhabited lands. The silence around us only added to the immense discomfort we were feeling.
After days of wandering aimlessly, fearing our very lives were about to end much too soon, we saw something in the field. At first glance, we thought it to be a scarecrow and then perhaps a gorilla, but as the fog rolled away we realized without a doubt that it was Uncle Frank! With immense relief we flew over to him, for we had thought certainly he had already been captured by the crazy stalker woman. He was the first real person we had seen in days. The only other survivor.
From this point on, we relaxed our guard a bit, and let Uncle Frank take over. He had survived this long completely alone, and seemed to know his way around the fields. Even as the utter darkness continued to envelope us, we felt almost safe as we followed his lead through the wooded expanse.
For about two more weeks, we wandered, Uncle Frank pointing out those things safe to eat, and those which were poisonous.
And then it happened, slowly at first. But soon we realized what was happening. Uncle Frank was losing his mind. All these weeks in the wilderness with no substantial food was making him crazy. He could no longer survive on soybeans.
He needed meat.
This unnerved us like nothing else. We tried to hide our discomfort and fear, masking it behind our exhaustion. We knew that if we did not emerge from the wilderness soon, all would be lost.
And then, as if a mirage, we saw her. Smiling and pointing the way. It was Bethany! She had a nifty gadget and had been tracking us for days. She and Auntie had not given up hope of our survival!
Soon, we were stumbling into the campsite, relieved to see the fire lit and feel it against our frozen skin. As we unthawed, Auntie relayed how they watched in horror as the crazy stalker woman dragged the bodies of Kim, Steph and Dodd back to her lair. Bethany had used her Heroes ability to build the fire and Auntie used her cloaking device to hide their presence. They stayed like that for weeks, searching for us and never giving up hope.
After that, we all went out for steak, except Bethany, she had chocolate instead.

You need help!
Let me say that at moments the stalker becomes the stalkee. Not long ago this happened at a common meeting place. The stalker turn stalkee saw the now stalker sneak in, but it was not undetected so the now stalkee was prepared. The now stalker got scared and ran off to take a shower with Beth! The End
That was quite the treacherous church get together, was it not? Who could have known that what should have been just a simple fall harvest party would turn into such a long, perilous journey.
But you were right. I never gave up hope that we would see you once again!
OK, call me a tard, but explain what NaBloPoMo stands for again? I’m guessing Blo is short for blog or blogging and maybe Mo could be more and Na might be November if you didn’t know how to spell. Either way, I can’t remember. Please explain and I might consider joining this year.
I am still very much on the fence about doing NaBlo this year. It seems like a shadow of its former self! But still… PRIZES!
