Retraction
I would like to officially re-submit my answer for Sam’s previous question:
5) I had a conversation with someone who considered the “deaf or blind” question unfair since blindness is much more debilitating to a person’s quality of life than deafness. In place of the question, he asked (and I ask you,) “If you had to choose blindness or deafness with the inability to communicate, which would you choose?” In other words, you can’t learn sign language, you’re mute, and you can’t read lips. Which would you consider the lesser of two evils?
My previous answer was blindness, but with further thought and some intense discussion amongst my peers, I have decided that I would rather give up the ability to communicate/deafness. Just because I cannot learn sign language and cannot read lips, does not mean I would be unable to communicate. Some of my favorite forms of communication are blogging and texting, both for which sight is a necessity. Plus, I just don’t get Braille.

But how would you learn the meaning of anything if you couldn’t hear or speak the words? I mean…I guess I’m just confused.
I still can’t figure how you could know what words mean to read or type if you could never communicate them….tough one.
For the likes ‘o me anyway.
Thank you for reading the question as I meant to write it, not how I actually wrote it. What I meant to write was that the deaf person couldn’t do the “usual” forms of communication we associate with Deafness. In other words, you could still communicate but it would be harder. This time you answered the question the way I meant to ask it. (Which is a little weird that you’re in my head but I’m thankful someone ventured in there.)
