52 Little Lessons From It’s a Wonderful Life (A Book Review)

Imagine my delight when I was offered the opportunity to review a book drawn from my absolute FAVORITE movie to obsess over and force on others to watch! My Favorite movie of all time! It’s a Wonderful Life!

Do you pay a visit to Bedford Falls every Christmas? Does December feel incomplete without a reminder that “no man is a failure who has friends”? If George and Mary Bailey are annual guests at your home during the holidays, you already know that It’s A Wonderful Life is far more than just a festive seasonal film. It’s a reflection of what we can be when we’re at our best and a reminder that our lives can change everyone around us—for better or worse. Revisit the defining lessons in Frank Capra’s 1946 classic, and discover new dimensions of the film you’ve seen time and again. What can you learn from Mary’s quiet contentedness? Does George’s selflessness make you rethink your own priorities? And how about Clarence’s dogged commitment to his assignment? Join author Bob Welch for a close-up of the characters and themes that shape this beautiful story. You’ll be reminded that life’s most important work is often the work we never planned to do and that God can use the most unlikely among us to get the job done.

This little book was inspiring! With 52 lessons, all drawn from a piece of this beautiful film, it is sure to leave the reader feeling inspired, enriched and with a deeper understanding of God and themselves! As I read through the lessons, being an avid It’s a Wonderful Life fan, I was amazed by all the little treasures that the author was able to pull out of this beautiful story. Some that I’ve cherished in my heart for years, others that I’ve never picked up on, or thought about in exactly that way before. For a person who has seen this movie a billion times, it was such a blessing to be able to see it in a fresh way, through new lenses and to learn yet more reasons to hold this movie dear to our hearts. A perfect book for the big fan and also the skeptic who doesn’t understand what the big deal is about this film. Perhaps this book would bring about an appreciation for the film that they failed to have before. I for one intend to re-read this book over and over again, as I enjoy my favorite film every Christmas.

Highly, highly recommended! (Of course!)
